Metamorphilia - Metamorphobia
Investigating the future with contemporary art made in Berlin.
This exhibition, opening on the 21st of November, at 6:00 PM in the gallery of the Kaņepes Kultūras centrs SIA (Skolas iela 15, Rīga, LV-1010), brings together the work of six international artists currently based in Germany and working as part of the network of the WerkStadt. Titled Metamorphilia-Metamorphobia, the show explores a stress field between the craving for a transition from one state into another; and the inseparable, interwoven uneasiness just before it. In short, investigating the future with contemporary art made in Berlin. The conceptual artworks are varied in media and presentation with kinetic sculpture, bright paintings, detailed drawings, playful videos, and scientific experiments on view. The artists have found inspiration in cultural backgrounds, technological developments, and visions of the future that span the globe. The exhibition is on display until he 28th of November, and will challenge viewers to assess on a fundamental level their own hopes and fears for the future.
The Exhibition is kindly supported by the European Commission (EACEA) and is part of the European October Children's Month Program.
